Google Testing Images in Sitelinks
Both Google and Bing have been playing with image extensions for years. Google gave them a shot in 2013, before scrapping the idea quite quickly, and Bing Ads bought its own version out of beta just over a year ago. But now, Google seems to be giving images in text ads another try.
So far, the images have only been seen on mobile, in the form of a carousel of images, almost like the ones you see on Facebook posts. It is not currently clear weather or not these tests are also being run on desktop.
The addition of images in a swipeable carousel is consistent in style with the changes made to price extensions earlier this month, where product and service costs changed from being in a list, to a more interactive experience.
As these Visual Sitelinks are currently only in testing, we will have to wait and see what happens next and the results Google collects.
