Have you seen Google’s new iOS app?
As we step into 2017, Google isn’t scared of throwing something new at us, and their new iOS app is filled more features than ever before.
The additions to version 22 mean that users have even less reason to leave the app than before.
In a nutshell, here are the three main changes to the new app:
- Users will now be able to watch YouTube videos in their feed. Videos will play instantly in Google Cards, meaning that opening a new page or the YouTube app will not longer be necessary.
- See and access rates and booking info for hotels, guesthouses and hostels.
- Restaurant menus will now be accessible instantly from restaurant search results, so there will be no need to load an external page.
The above image shows an example of the new restaurant menu experience being offered on the new Google iOS app. The screen on the left shows a link to the menu, but when this is clicked on, the menu appears in the app rather than opening another tab or webpage.
The app has also introduced Gboard – meaning users will now be able to swipe to type, see predictions of what they are about to type, use and integrated Google search box GIF search and more. To use this feature across all apps, the keyboard needs to be enabled by going to: Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard > Google.
