Meet the Team: Our New Content and Social Executive – Holly!

Say hello to the newest member of our team, Holly!

For the last 14 years Holly’s been a familiar voice on the airwaves of Cornwall’s Pirate FM, which more recently became part of Bauer Media’s Hits Radio Network.

Best known for working alongside funnyman Johnny Cowling, the pair hosted the Drivetime Show giving their unique take on Cornish life with fun features and phone-ins.

Behind the scenes Holly spent her time working on events from the Local Heroes Awards to Boardmasters and also got to work on some more memorable marketing campaigns for well known local and national clients!

Whether sending a pasty into space, taking selfies with the Prime Minister, or dressing up as a giant human stapler – it was all in a day’s work at the radio station.

We caught up with Holly to see how she’s settling in to her new role here at HookedOnMedia.

Best thing about HOM?

I love that as a remote team – we’re all over the county – and based right on our client’s doorsteps. Getting to eat lunch in your garden is also a plus! I’m far better at writing than talking (!) and I love the joy that comes from slotting words together in a nice order and making content that helps our clients grow.

Most Memorable Work Moment?

We once did a campaign for Flybe where we took over a flight from Newquay to London on St Piran’s Day. We filled the plane with one of our best Cornish male voice choirs, packed the overhead lockers with pasties and serenaded passengers with a sea shanty flash mob – it was strangely emotional!

Claim to Fame?

My brief spell working for Greatest Hits Radio saw me join Ken Bruce, Simon Mayo and Basil Brush broadcasting from a London Pub – the glamour!

Dawn French also came to my wedding (sadly not in her dog collar!).

Perfect Weekend?

Probably 3 days at the Royal Cornwall Show!

I grew up by the beach but am definitely more a wellies than wetsuit girl – nothing makes me happier than a good old vintage tractor or steam rally with my young son.

See the Fisherman’s Friends perform in Port Isaac and go on Deal or No Deal! ☎️
