Meet the Team: Our New Sales Superstar – Helen!

Say hello to the newest member of our team, Helen!

From growing up in a small Newquay Hotel run by her family, Helen spent many years working as an Executive Assistant for some big hitters in the Cornish mining industry before settling in Falmouth just a stone’s throw from Swanpool beach.

Little time for swanning around Swanpool, Helen has balanced bringing up her two boys with running her own property letting business alongside being a hands-on Chair of Governors for her local school for over a decade. Good preparation for juggling the fast-moving world of digital marketing, eh!

How’s Life at HOM?

Great! This is an exciting new direction for me and Lee, Stewart & Andrew have helped me settle in quickly. The whole team are friendly, and the general ethos I’ve found to be welcoming and supportive.

Most Memorable Work Moments?

My work for one Cornish mining firm took me to Turkey, where I worked on an industrial minerals project. This experience was fascinating – not only culturally, but also due to the dynamics in the workplace. As a woman giving instructions in a male-dominated environment, it took time to break through cultural norms!

Another unforgettable chapter was my role as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of a company under South West Water. This gave me the rather unusual opportunity to visit many sewage treatment works across the South West—a quirky addition to my career journey!

Later, as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Richard Mozley Ltd—a renowned Cornish engineering company with global reach—I supported projects spanning the mining, oil and gas industries, the NHS, and even the food sector with brands like Walkers Crisps.

Perfect Weekend?

I like the Arts: theatre, music and festivals – whether an evening at Eden or a boogie at Boardmasters and I’m partial to a glass of red wine or a G&T or three!

One of my more memorable weekends I spent dancing with the professional dancers from Strictly Come Dancing!

 Claim to Fame?

I’ve met and chatted to Paul Mescal (Normal People and Gladiator ll fame) and have his autograph. I gave him a bar of Cornish chocolate and some Cornish gin! 

 What’s on the Bucket List?

Go to Glastonbury and work as an Oxfam volunteer and build a house at the end of my garden!
